Impaired lymphocyte transformation and capping in autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura.

چکیده
Alterations in lymphocyte function and the role of cell-mediated immunity have been studied in patients with autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura (ATP). The numbers of T cells, B cells, and null cells were 62 ± 4.0 %, 5.4 ± 0.8 %. and 33 %, respectively, in 43 patients and were no different than those found in 33 control measurements in normal subjects. In 31 ATP patients an inverse relationship was found between the number of T cells and the platelet count, with r = -0.55, p < 0.001. Lymphocyte transformation with phytohemagglutinin (PHA) as well as concanavalin A (Con-A) was impaired in 23 patients with PHA (ratio of incorporation of ‘4C-thymidine in DNA: controls/patients =

A Case Study of Silent Thyroiditis Associated with Idiopathic ُThrombocytopenic Purpura
A 48 Year-old woman had symptoms of thyrotoxicosis which disappeared spontaneously within two months. She was diagnosed as case of silent thyroiditis on the basis of both the clinical course and the laboratory data such as low uptake of radioactive Iodine and Technesium. She also had petechia in her arms which were diagnosed as an idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (I.T.P.). This case would se...
متن کاملCorrelations among age, cytokines, lymphocyte subtypes, and platelet counts in autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura.
While autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura is mediated by autoantibodies, accumulating evidence suggests that T helper cells and the cytokines they produce also play a key role. We determined correlations among age, serum cytokine concentrations, circulating lymphocyte, and platelet counts in adult (n=19) and children (n=29) with autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura. Correlations between age and ...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Refractory Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura with Rituximab, a Monoclonal Antibody: a Case Report
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is mostly attributed to the presence of an autoantibody against ADAMTS-13, a metalloprotease that degrades ultralarge von Willebrand protein multimers. Accumulation of vWF multimers and systemic platelet aggregation lead to microangiopathic thrombosis, hemolytic anemia, and end-organ ischemia. Most patients respond to therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), ...
متن کاملAn Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura Patient Treated With Homeopathy: A Case Report
Introduction: Homeopathy can be applied to treat various diseases and conditions such as cancer, allergy, mood disorders, headache and pain. This case showed that homeopathic medicine can be a treatment modality for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), an autoimmune-mediated hematologic disorder. Case Presentation: The patient was a 5.5–year-old child wi...
متن کاملAbnormal Autologous Mixed Lymphocyte Reaction in Autoimmune
The autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction (auto-MLR) measures the ability of non-T cells to stimulate autologous T cells to proliferate in tissue culture. The auto-MLR was studied in 1 1 patients with autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura (ATP). Seven patients had decreased auto-MLR. which averaged 4440 ± 3364 cpm (SEM) compared to 1 5.360 ± 6905 cpm for simultaneously studied controls. The averag...
